I think this is a very serious issue that has gone almost unnoticed in our society. Justin Dillon since the making of the film has moved towards political pushes for action in an Anti-slavery movement. In this movement he is using political power and encourages businesses and the public to rally to fight for the freedom of all people. The current movement out of this film is aimed towards businesses and encouraging big corporations to examine how their products are produced. Hopefully one day this type of action will be federally mandated that all corporations have entirely slave free production.
Until then, get the word out! Let people know that slaves are used all around the world and our consumption is causing an increase in the need for cheap labor by big corporations. Be aware of where your shirt, your shoes, and your coffee are produced! If we as a society start to value human life over the cheap clothing or food we can make a change.
I am in a state of shock. Although I had known that slavery still existed in America, I never seen images of it happening. When seeing that little girl in the bed with her head down, I immediately cringed at the thought of what she goes through on a daily basis. Slavery is currently happening all over the world. The underground slave industry is not talked about and many do not raise awareness on this issue because many believe that slavery does not exist in America and that it had ended everywhere else. Child slave trade should not exist and it saddens me to know that children cost less than cattle and that there are more slaves now illegally in American than when slavery was legal. This issue is heart wrenching and I agree that this is an issue that should be known about and many should protest in order to fight it along with many other issues that are protested on a daily basis here in the United States. Thank you for sharing this and for sharing your insight on this issue. It made really think and reevaluate the important things we should actually be trying to change.
